FAQ

  • No. Just put everything in together — wearables and unwearables can all go in the same bag or box. Our team and Australian Red Cross will take care of the sorting on their end.

  • No. Adding wearable items to your usual After collection is completely free. You simply pay your standard After collection fee - nothing extra to the usual collection costs.

  • When booking your collection on the After website, you'll see a checkbox asking if you'd like to include wearable donations for Australian Red Cross. Just tick that box and you're in. If you don't tick it, your collection proceeds as normal.

  • No. Australian Red Cross is not collecting any payment and is not charging any fee. This is an extension of After's collection service. After handles all bookings, logistics and payments. Australian Red Cross's role is to sort the wearable items donated by customers and redirect them to people in need.

  • No. Australian Red Cross receives donated wearable clothing to redistribute through their stores and programs — the same way they receive any donated clothing. They are not taking a fee or margin from this service.

  • After delivers your textiles to the Australian Red Cross Distribution Centre. Their team sorts through everything. Wearable items that are suitable for resale or redistribution go to Australian Red Cross stores and programs. Any items that aren't suitable are returned to After for responsible recycling.

  • Unwearable textiles are returned to After after sorting and recycled through our GRS-certified recycling partners. All textiles are shredded and recycling into yarn - a valuable raw material - used for home furnishings such as cushion covers, rugs, curtains etc.

  • Wearable items are clothing and textiles that are still in good, clean condition — things that could be donated or worn again. Think: clothes, jackets, shoes, bags, accessories. Please make sure everything is clean and dry. Wet, mouldy or heavily contaminated items cannot be accepted.

  • Unwearable items are textiles that are too worn, torn, stained or damaged to be donated — things like old bedding, linen, towels, socks with holes, faded or shrunken clothing, and fabric scraps. These go straight to After for recycling.

  • Yes! This pilot is designed as an add-on to After's existing collection service. To participate, you'll need to book an After collection. You can just put in your wearables and we'll take care of the rest.
